the asean-china digital agriculture forum was held in weifang, shandong province, on apr. 26, 2023. vice minister ma youxiang addressed the forum.
vice minister ma noted that the chinese government attaches great importance to smart agriculture and digital village development and is striving to promote the application of digital technology to agriculture and rural development at a faster pace. china is willing to work with asean countries to strengthen technical exchanges and cooperation in smart agriculture. vice minister ma suggested that china and asean countries should: 1) work together to make breakthroughs in key smart agriculture technology and develop applied technologies regarding smart agriculture that suits local conditions; 2) focus on specialized agricultural products and carry out demonstration projects involving digital agriculture technology; and 3) step up efforts to train professionals in digital agriculture and cultivate the force driving digital agriculture development.
the asean-china digital agriculture forum was co-hosted by mara and the shandong provincial people’s government. it was one of the events celebrating the china-asean year of agricultural development and food security cooperation.
zhou naixiang, governor of shandong province, and ren hongbin, chairman of the china council for the promotion of international trade, attended the forum and delivered speeches. song junji and chen ping, vice governors of shandong province, also attended along with representatives from agricultural ministries and embassies of relevant asean countries and the asean secretariat, as well as representatives from relevant chinese provincial governments and departments.
